Brazil travel guide

Brazil or the Federative Republic of Brazil is situated in South America and borders with the Atlantic Ocean, Argentina, Bolivia, Columbia, Guyana, French Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay, and Venezuela. The country includes many archipelagos such as Rocas Atoll and Fernando de Noronha. With a population of more than 191 million people, Brazil is the fifth most populous country on the planet. The capital of Brazil, Brasilia, is situated in the Central-West Region and has a population of more than 2.5 million residents. Other large cities include Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Fortaleza, Curitiba, and Belem, among others.

Most visitors choose to visit Brazil during the high season, lasting between December and March. The low season, running from May to September, is a least preferred but much cheaper option. In general, Brazil is famous for the Amazon jungles, tropical islands, world class beaches, football, carnivals, and numerous historic sites. The tourists enjoy the superb Brazilian beaches of Ubatuba, Paraty-Mirim, and Trindade. The landscape of the Bonito region offers unforgettable views of waterfalls, clear rivers, and dense forests. The amazing waterfalls Iguasu Falls extend on the territory of three countries.

Culture is another distinguishing feature of Brazil. The tropicalia musical style of Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil combines fragmented melodies, electric instruments, and a diverse array of musical styles. Brazil has also been the home of many talented writers such as Paolo Coelho, Jorge Amado, and Joaquim Maria Machado de Assis. In terms of architecture, Salvador hosts numerous superb Baroque buildings. The 18th century city of Olinda offers a view of many Baroque churches, chapels, and covenants. The town of Ouro Preto holds the largest concentration of Baroque architecture in the country. Many of the buildings are designed by the world famous Aleijadinho. Finally, the metropolis Rio de Janeiro is best known for Copacabana, the Sugar Loaf Mountain, the statue of Christ the Redeemer, and Estadio Mario Filho.
