Prime Minister's Residence was built in 1866 by Joseph Merrill Currier who was a Member of Parliament. It was wedding gift to his wife Hannah. The house was bought by the government in 1943 and in 1951 became the official residence for the Prime Minister of Canada. The Right Honourable Louis St. Laurent was the first Prime Minister to live there.

The Prime Minister's Residence is not open to the public.
