The Mirabell Palace was built in 1606 by Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau for his lover Salome Alt. He wanted to have a perfect home for her and their 15 children, 10 of whom survived.

Mirabell Palace is also known today for its famous marble hall considered to be the "loveliest wedding venue in the world".
